I'm going to take this one day by post at a time. otherwise it would probably end up miiiiles long!!!
Monday morning we woke up at four fifteen in the morning packed and ready to go. We'd prepared everything the night before except for morning toiletries and all that. We drove out to the airport, falling asleep as we went. Anyone who knows me knows I am not a morning person. NOT a MORNING person. So I was pretty much half dead for a while. But after I wake up a little bit in the early morning, I wake up a lot. It was like pouring a pound of sugar into eight different caffeinated and sugared sodas and energy drinks. In other words, I annoyed the crap out of my family.
The first plane was BIG and the ride was about two and a half hours down to Houston, Texas. I sat between two men and neither said a word the entire ride except for the one on the left- he said 'sorry' when he stepped on my foot. What an imagination. Not that I minded- I find it awkward when you exchange two sentences, then sit in silence for the rest of the ride wondering if you should say something else.
Anyway, we made our way down through the airport (We always fly Continental Airlines) and waited for two hours in the terminal to take a smaller, yet more comfortable (And extra LOUD) plane for ninety minutes down to Destin, Florida. There we got an immediate car and hotel room, which was refreshing compared to our usual mad rush and long waits. We immediately settled in and, one hour later, we were at the ocean.
Destin's park was labeled America's best for a reason. It was beautiful!!! Mom sure knows how to pick a spot (Though her timing is never good- last time we went on vacation Jacqueline almost missed her Aptitude Tests and I almost missed my POP competition. This time I was invited to a friends' cabin and to see the Harry Potter 6 the first day it opened. Oh, well.) The water was perfectly blue from a few yards away, and the sand was WHITE. Not khaki white, WHITE white. Once you got up right in the water, dipping your feet in, it was clear as glass. You could see down for at least four feet!!! The only thing was the seaweed. It was ALL OVER. I rinsed off in the shower at the room afterwards and found pieces of the nasty stuff in my top. And everywhere else, really. Then we went down to the Palms Of Destin (our hotel) swimming pool, which was beautiful. They had turned it into the tropics we couldn't have on the beach. There were palms and beautiful plants everywhere, wooden bridges stretching across the water and rock walls with pretty flowers filling in the cracks. It looked like some sort of exotic oasis. Actually, it pretty much was.
Fridays was for lunch- I got the AAAAAMAAAZING endless lunch, soup&salad with yummy breadsticks. There was a Wal-Mart just across and down the street, so we went and bought all kinds of frozen dinners and junk foods for snacks. We ate some of our frozen meals for dinner that night and went to bed waaay early. Some of us might be better than others (Everyone vs. me) but we were all pretty exhausted.
